Plug-in hybrid breaks world record – covers 2,100 km on one tank

The Chinese plug-in hybrid Chery Fulwin T10 has a short 2,100 kilometers on the same tank of petrol. It is much better than the previous Guinness recognized world record.

The Chinese Fulwin T10 is a medium-sized SUV, and it is the world record holder. The plug-in hybrid has a short 2,100 kilometers on one tank.

The tour began on July 17 in southwest China and ended three days later in the city of Zhuhai on China's east coast.

The distance means that the SUV has beaten the previous long-distance record for a plug-in hybrid by a whopping 300 kilometers.

This is what Car News China writes.

The explanation is to be found in the T10's powertrain. Despite a combined output of 610 horsepower and a four-wheel drive, the plug-in hybrid only has a one and a half liter petrol engine.

But with the battery of 34.4 kWh and an energy density of 150 wh/kg, there is enough power alone for a trip of 210 kilometers. That is, when we remove the small petrol engine.

The hybrid system that the Fulwin T10 uses is also launched in several other models from the group behind the car brand. Among others Cherry Omoda and Jaceoo. Cars that are said to already be coming to Europe this year. It is not known whether the Danish market is included in the first instance.

But there are actually more records to come. At least when it comes to the Chinese of them. On July 5 this year, BYD claimed that it has built a plug-in hybrid up to a height of almost 6 kilometers – exactly 5,980 meters – so high up no hybrid has been for.

However, not all Chinese do equally well. At HiPhi, which among others dreamed of coming to Denmark, after a year of standstill in production, they have filed for bankruptcy. Read more about it here .
