Perhaps the world's most famous BMW is looking for a new home

It has almost circled the Earth five times. But the nearly 40-year-old BMW E30 M3 is said to be in excellent condition.

How much would you pay for a 36-year-old BMW with 177,000 kilometers on the clock?

If the answer is 'like up to 180,000 dollars', which corresponds to 1.2 million kroner, you might be the next owner of this E30 M3. Okay, obviously it's not just any M3.

Because although BMW built almost 18,000 copies of the first M3, only 500 of them were given the nickname Evolution II.

A desirable car back then in the late 80s, but an even more desirable car today if possible. BMW didn't build more because it simply wasn't necessary.

The homologation rules of the German Standard Car Championship (DTM) then required 500 street cars as part of the entry ticket to the racetracks. So the brand from Munich built 500.

All to be able to chase Mercedes' equivalent 190 model around in one of the most spectacular races the world has yet seen.

But back to the BMW. It was originally built for a Frenchman as car number 463 out of the 500 examples. This is where the BMW stayed, because it came to the USA in 2014 and is now in California.

The 2.3-liter four-cylinder S14 engine produces 218 horsepower, while the 245 newton meters are available at 6,750 revolutions per minute. In other words, the old Bimmer lives best with and with a tight throttle cable.

If you look at the German car magazine Mobile.de, there is a long way between the other EVO II models. They are there, but they are few.

With a quick search we found a copy in Nogaro-solv. And actually at an even wilder price. Namely 220,000 euros. In other words, there's no getting around it – perhaps the most famous BMW of all time is an expensive affair… even today!
