People are learning to love AMGs with 4 cylinders, says Mercedes

People will come to love AMG models with 4 cylinders as much as it is the case with smartphones today, Mercedes believes.

There is apparently no way around new AMG models with 4 cylinders. And if you ask Mercedes, it's also something customers will love.

They – just like the smartphone – just have to have time to turn to the tank. This is the opinion of the head of the Australian importer Jaime Cohen.

In an interview with the Australian site Carsales , Jaime Cohen says that it may take time to convince customers that four cylinders are better than eight. But that it is nevertheless true. So according to Mercedes.

– I was one of those who missed a mobile phone with physical buttons. A keyboard. Who can imagine such a person today?

– Progress takes time. But it (the four cylinders, ed.) will be a success because it is a good product and that is enough to convince people, says Jaime Cohen.

However, the Australian importer speaks directly against the order books. At least on the other side of the Earth. For the German dealers complain that there are no AMG customers who want four-cylinder cars.

The customers who used to buy, for example, a C63 AMG, have instead gone to Audi or BMW, which still have the V8 engine on the program.

However, it is not only cars with few cylinders that Mercedes has more than difficulty selling. In the US, dealers complain that it is almost impossible to sell electric cars to Mercedes' customers.

However, the situation Mercedes finds itself in is not very different from what plagues its competitors. Together with Mercedes, more and more car brands have to recognize that the internal combustion engine has not played its role around 2030 after all.

In fact, the German brand is among those who will now spend billions of kroner on the development of special internal combustion engines. Read more about it here .
