There is no way around the four-cylinder C63, although Mercedes-AMG sells very few of them. Now the boss believes that people need to love the car.
There is no way around the four-cylinder C63 AMG. Not even if Mercedes' dealers in Germany report gaping empty order books.
And now AMG director Michael Schiebe says people are bound to love the C63 with 4 cylinders.
– For some customers, it takes time to really learn to like new technology, says Michael Schiebe in an interview with Autocar .
Michael Schiebe goes so far as to describe AMG as a 'technology company'. This means that not everything AMG does needs to have a big V8 engine between the front wheels.

At least not in the eyes of the boss. He also advises his clients to have 'an open mind when it comes to technology'. It is not only in the C63 model that AMG puts the 2-liter, four-cylinder M193l engine between the front wheels.
The same is the case in the GLC63, GT43 and SL43. For that matter, the larger V8 engine will not make a comeback in the E63 either. Here, both Mercedes and AMG make do with a six-cylinder engine. Even though last year left Mercedes considering giving up and putting the V8 engine back in the C63.
In an interview with Top Gear from last year, Schiebe made it clear that AMG is sticking with the four-cylinder petrol engine because it is 'very, very progressive'.
Out at the Mercedes dealers, however, you can see that customers are leaving. Instead, they buy cars from Audi and BMW, which still have V8 engines on the program. To be fair, so does Mercedes. But it is in cars in a completely different league than the C63.
