Owns the whole Bugatti – but Mate would rather drive a BMW

Mate Rimac is a car enthusiast down to the tips of his fingers. He owns all of Bugatti. But when he goes home, it takes place in a used BMW.

Mate Rimac, managing director of Bugatti-Rimac, chooses a somewhat surprising car when he leaves the office after a long day at work. Namely a used BMW.

Although he heads a company known for some of the world's most advanced hypercars, Rimac gets behind the wheel of a BMW E39 M5 that was last new in 2003.

Bugatti-Rimac is the company behind electric cars such as the Nevera R, a hypercar that with its 2,107 horsepower and a weight of 2,277 kg can accelerate from 0 to 300 km/h in just 8.66 seconds.

With a price of approximately 21.5 million Danish kroner including taxes, that car is definitely not for ordinary, deadly drivers.

However, Mate Rimac is not a man of finer feelings than that he can easily get behind the wheel of a more than 20-year-old BMW. And even on a daily basis.

The choice of a specific BMW is probably related to Rimac's personal interest in the brand.

According to the car site BMWBlog, he has previously owned several BMW models, including an M6 E64, an E30 M3 and a newer F90 M5 Competition.

Mate Rimac also has many years of experience with the brand. Although he heads a company that develops advanced electric cars, he has set several world records in something as old as an E30 3 Series.

However, the Croatian car boss is not the only one at the top of the industry who has a soft spot for the much older part of the car park.

Christian von Koenigsegg, founder of the hypercar company Koenigsegg, has previously said that he prefers a Mazda MX-5 as an everyday car.

Boosted has also previously told about a footballer who – although the millions roll into the account every week – would rather drive a Fiat Panda. And yes, we are of course talking about the original. Read more about it here .
