Owner wants to make secret deal on abandoned Saab factory

Swedish P4 Väst can now reveal that the hope of car production at Saab's old factory in Trollhättan has not been given up, even if a mysterious buyer was kicked out.

There is still hope for car production at Saab's old factory in Trollhättan. Even if the last Saab-like factory may not be built at all after all.

This is reported by Swedish P4 Väst .

It was the wealthy Svante Andersson who bought the former car factory almost a year ago. However, he had to see the plans for car production torn in the middle when the buyer of the last Saab-like car turned out to be a dishonest undertaking. Read more about it here.

However, all hope is not yet extinguished. According to P4 Väst, secret negotiations on several major agreements concerning the factory are underway.

– In about a month, an agreement can be concluded, says Svante Andersson to P4 Väst.

There is reportedly both interest from actors in the automotive industry and 'other industries'. Last week it emerged that Chinese car manufacturers may be interested in moving production to Sweden to avoid the EU's new punitive tariffs.

Whether these Chinese brands will move to Trollhättan, however, remains to be seen. The last Saab-like car was actually owned by Chinese. It was also the Chinese who dreamed of reviving the brand. But it was also the Chinese, the Evergrande Group, who lost the right to the name 10 years ago.

The successor NEVS, or National Electric Vehicle Sweden, went bankrupt itself in 2023. It happened roughly at the same time as the Evergrande Group's fall.

At other car factories, the light is permanently switched off. At the factory, which built everything from the Peugeot 406 coupe to the Ferrari Testarossa, there has been no life since 2011. See the terrifying images here.
