Once the world's first, it is no longer found in Denmark

After a period of just two years, the Danish MG importer has withdrawn the world's first electric station wagon from the program. The same is the case in Norway.

Over and out. It did not turn out to be a glorious career for the world's first electric estate car, the MG5, in Denmark.

Thus, the choice, if you want an electric station wagon, is again limited to the somewhat more expensive Porsche Taycan Turismo Sport.

When the MG importer presented the car back in February 2022, it was at a starting price of DKK 289,999. Figures from the Danish car importers show that not a single new MG 5 has been sold this year, and that there were only 61 copies of the model throughout 2023.

In the press material from February 2022, the importer wrote that the car had 'all the features needed to continue MG's success in Denmark'. But it didn't work out that way.

MG's newest car in the Danish model program is hardly a replacement for the electric station wagon. In fact, the two cars have little else in common than a steering wheel and four wheels.

The MG Cyberster, on the other hand, is a roadster with scissor doors and 340 horsepower as a starting point. The price is just under half a million, if you can settle for the basic version. Read more about the car here .

Back to the MG5, it was and is not a car that made much of a difference. Neither on the roads nor purely in terms of design. The importer has not said anything about the fact that the car is no longer part of the program in Denmark.

However, it is not just the MG5 that is disappearing from the automotive industry in certain markets. More than a handful of car models will not enter the new year at all. Everything from ordinary age to outright bankruptcy plays a role here. See the list of outgoing cars here .
