Kia had to retract their mockery of Tesla. But that hasn't stopped competitors from doing the same. Now it's the Danish Xpeng importer's turn.
Y Note.
It could obviously be youthful slang. But in reality it's a slap in the face to Tesla from the Danish Xpeng importer.
The message is evident in an advertisement that Xpeng has just posted on Facebook. The post comes after everything from Polestar to Kia have tried to get their share of Tesla's market share.
Tesla is in a situation where their customers are disappearing like dew in the sun. Things are not going very well on the used market either.
New figures show that the prices of used Tesla models are only going one way – down. And at a furious pace, after Elon Musk has forged ties with the White House and US President Trump.
While both Tesla itself and drivers have difficulty getting rid of new and used cars, not all criticism of Tesla falls on equal ground.
For example, Kia in Norway had to withdraw an entire advertising campaign that reached Tesla. The South Korean brand subsequently apologized for its behavior. Read more about.
Back at Xpeng, the 'swine' is a bit more subtle. Still, it's unmistakable when the brand advertises its own alternative to a Model Y – called the G6.
Although the Chinese brand does not mention anything about price or Tesla directly, it is not the first in a wave aimed at Tesla.
Polestar in the US, for example, is so keen on Tesla owners that they are willing to pay them up to 140,000 kroner just to switch to another car.
BMW is also not one to rub salt in the wound. It is BMW in Canada that has used a very specific slogan in ads on social media such as Instagram as well as on the company's own website.
Here, the BMW i4, a car model that recently received an award as the electric car of the year in Canada, is promoted with the words: “Tested, not protested.”
