After a period of falling demand for crude oil, the price is on the way up again. Something that causes diesel and petrol prices to rise dramatically.
After a period of relatively calm petrol and diesel prices, crude oil is on the rise again. After hitting a tentative low of $74 per ton, a ton of crude oil is now already around 80 dollars.

The media points to several reasons. On the one hand, several wars and conflicts have flared up in the Middle East, on the other the euro has fallen in value compared to the dollar.
It simply makes it more expensive to buy crude oil, which is traded in the US currency on the world market. It also rubs off here at home.
Right now the liter price for petrol is around DKK 13.69. Otherwise, it is not more than a month ago that the price reached its lowest level in the course of 2024. At the beginning of September, a liter of petrol cost 'only' DKK 13.09.

The diesel has also been bumped up from around DKK 11.8 to now costing DKK 12.29 for an equivalent litre. And right on that front, further increases are on the way.
The government has decided to raise the diesel tax once again. It already happens on 1 January 2025. Read more about it here.
At the same time, the periodic taxes for all passenger cars in Denmark will rise once again as a result of an agreement from 2020. Even vintage cars will not be exempt from the increases, which will only stop in 2026.
