Now motorists have to pay for the heated seats, says Fisker

In a desperate attempt to save the business, Fisker Inc. now a wide range of features that Ocean owners already use, behind a paywall. Including seat and steering wheel heating.

It both looks and sounds like a bankruptcy just waiting to happen. Nevertheless, Danish Henrik Fisker is trying to save his business, the car brand Fisker Inc.

The latest move is not to assure customers that Fisker does everything to keep the cars running. On the contrary, the owners of the Ocean model, which is Fisker's only car, have been given a warning.

Specifically, the car brand is now warning its customers that a large number of functions may disappear in their cars.

It is functions such as seat and steering wheel heating as well as access to the 360-degree camera, the heating in the windscreen and the car's so-called 'premium' internet connection, for which Fisker now wants to be paid.

So again. According to Autoevolution, the warning has been sent out to owners of the Ocean Ultra and Ocean Sport cars. In addition to the cars that have already been paid for once.

The heating functions are originally part of Fisker's so-called Winter package, which some customers paid for when they paid for the other car. But for several Ocean owners, the 'winter package' didn't work at all.

Fisker had to come in and activate the packages with some new software. But even then, the Ocean owners were told that it – they had already paid for – was only temporary. And only available during a so-called 'trial period'.

From the turn of the year, if Fisker Inc. since surviving that long, those features will now be behind a paywall that owners have to pay repeatedly to break down.

Fisker Inc. has not said anything about what you will charge for the 'packages'. But customers are promised help to find the best solution.

Nu skal bilister betale for sædevarmen, siger Fisker
This is what the email sent by Fisker to the Ocean owners looks like.
