Discontent at Tesla's Berlin factory is simmering. 3,000 employees are so fed up with their working conditions that they are protesting.
Employees at Tesla's Giga Berlin factory are now protesting their working conditions. Around 3,000 Tesla employees have signed a protest and submitted a number of demands to management.
The demands include a desire to change the conditions from day to day on the factory floor.
This is reported by Automotive News Europe .
The employees are demanding a number of improvements such as increased staffing to ease the workload, management stopping using fear-based control methods, and more breaks.
An employee affiliated with the IG Metall union says that he and the other employees often don't even have time to go to the toilet.
– We often don't have time to go to the bathroom. No one can work like that until retirement.
The employees' demands coincide with Tesla having just started production of the facelifted Model Y at its factory in Berlin.
Both management and employees expect to run stronger due to increasing demand.
Tesla has already offered 3,000 laid-off employees a fixed salary from April in order to meet the expected demand.
Tesla has also published the results of a survey conducted among around 7,500 of the factory's approximately 11,000 employees.
The survey shows that 80 percent of respondents are satisfied with their working conditions, while 5 percent have expressed dissatisfaction. According to Tesla, the remaining employees have responded neutrally to the survey.
However, this does not change the fact that outside the factory walls, more attacks are being directed at Tesla. They come from people who do not like CEO Elon Musk's involvement in politics.
Some left-wing activists threw the word 'Heil' on the factory's facade as late as January. Because of this, some left-wing activists also attempted to set fire to the factory in Germany.
In the US and France, others have tried – and partly succeeded – in burning down Tesla charging stations . Just as shots have been fired at the car brand's stores, three people have been arrested in connection with this.
Because the arrests took place in the United States, they will be prosecuted as terrorists on the orders of President Donald Trump, which under American law can trigger the death penalty.
