Drivers of the first editions of the Nissan Leaf and the van e-NV200 can no longer use a number of the cars' functions. The Japanese brand has blocked them.
In England, a number of Nissan owners are now complaining that the brand is letting them down. Precisely because a number of functions associated with the brand's oldest electric cars are now unusable.
The English Nissan importer has permanently closed an app that enables remote control of heating in the cabin and charging time.
The BBC writes that.
The English Nissan importer explains the closure of the app by saying that the 2G network on which the technology is based is facing a general shutdown.

– The NissanConnect EV app, which is currently linked to Nissan Leaf and e-NV200 models produced until 2019, will be shut down from 1 April 2024 in preparation for the phasing out of 2G technology, says Nissan in England.
However, the functions do not disappear completely. The Japanese brand instead refers the owners to the fact that something like the charging timer must be controlled directly in the cars. Nissan Denmark confirms the same in an email to the Boosted editorial team.
– However, it is still possible to control the climate control and charging hours directly from the car's navigation system.
– So there are basically no functions that disappear. Exclusively the possibility to operate them remotely from the app, writes Ann Stroby, Communications manager at Nissan.
At the same time, Nissan points out that it is not only their customers who will be affected by this kind of 'shutdown'. It will happen in all cars that the car manufacturers have based on 2G technology.
