New Lego cars may only be assembled by people over the age of 18

Lego's latest collaboration is with McLaren. Specifically about a McLaren P1 in the 1:8 scale. The age limit is 18 years.

You must be 18 years old to collect the latest car from Danish Lego. A McLaren P1 in the scale 1:8.

On the other hand, the car is complete with a seven-speed gearbox, working suspension and rear wing, V8 engine and doors that open and close. In addition, each model comes with a unique serial number.

– We wanted to capture the details in the best possible way with our Lego Technic model, and we did not want to compromise in any way, says Kasper Rene Hansen, designer at Lego Group in a press release .

The car's serial number also gives access to "behind the scenes" content. If that's not enough, Lego owners can rejoice that the set consists of 3,893 parts.

According to the box the collection comes in, the age limit is set to 18 years and up. Maybe because the price is also pretty steep. Lego charges 449 euros or 3,350 Danish kroner for the new model.

It is not the first time that Lego has been granted the license to create a model of a real car. For example, Lego's branch in California has a Ferrari F40 in the size ratio 1:1.

The first Legoland park to open its doors outside of Europe, more than 1,800 hours were spent designing the F40 model. A further 1,900 hours were spent putting the car together from more than 358,000 blocks from Billund.
