Half a year has now passed since the requirements in the Danish environmental zones were significantly tightened. It has raffled off over 10,000 stalls to Danish motorists.
New stricter environmental zone requirements made it illegal on 1 October last year to drive into five of the country's largest cities in a diesel car without a particulate filter.
The aim of the new rules was and is to reduce particle pollution from traffic in Aarhus, Aalborg, Odense, Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.
But the new rules have not only had a positive effect on air quality, they have also given the state an income of more than DKK 15 million in six months.
And that alone because surveillance cameras have caught and sent the stall to more than 10,000 motorists. Each time the ban is violated, it costs DKK 1,500 in fines.

This is shown in a new overview that the Danish Environmental Agency has handed over to Gjensidige. The company states this in a press release .
However, the large number of stalls is not necessarily an expression of people in older diesel cars flouting the strict rules. Lene Rasmussen, claims director at Gjensidige, thinks so.
– It has only been half a year since the new rules came into effect, and it is my impression that many owners of diesel cars have either not paid attention to the rules.
– Or that they may have thought that they were not covered by them. And that's why I think the number of stalls will decrease in the coming time, she says.
Despite the many – and very high – stalls, a circular survey shows that the Danes are generally positive about the state chasing motorists in this way.
More than one in three respondents answered that they view the new rules positively, while just under one in five believes that the new rules are too strict.
In addition, one in four believes that the rules should be tightened further, so that, for example, there must be a complete ban on driving in diesel cars in the country's largest cities.
