New iPhone problem only affects Tesla owners

iPhone users who are also Tesla owners seem to be the only ones affected by a new problem. Neither the car manufacturer nor the IT giant has any comment.

iPhone owners who are also Tesla owners have experienced an issue with phone calls that occurs when they connect their iPhone to their Tesla car.

The problem appears to only occur on iPhones. While Android and other operating systems work without problems. Tesla has not yet solved the problem, and neither Apple nor Tesla has wished to comment on the matter publicly.

This is written by Norwegian Motor .

The problem was first noticed when a Tesla owner from Bergen in Norway received his car, which he had bought for around 450,000 Danish kroner.

Shortly after taking the car into use, he noticed that the sound in the car's speakers became distorted and crackling during phone calls. According to the car owner, the sound was "as if the speakers had exploded". But the problem only occurred during conversations and not when the music was played from the phone through the car's speakers.

Tesla has attempted to find a solution and has investigated the matter, but concluded that it is a bug that owners must accept unless a future software update fixes the problem.

According to internal documents at Tesla, the problem appears in certain versions of the Tesla Model Y produced in 2022. Tesla Norway has confirmed that the problem has been found in other cars from the same model year, and owners of the Tesla Model 3 from the same period have also reported similar challenges .

Both Tesla and the owner have carried out a series of tests which confirm that the sound problem only occurs with the iPhone.

In this connection, Tesla has claimed that the fault lies with Apple and not Tesla itself. However, this view is not shared by the Norwegian consumer authorities, where the car owner has complained about the problem.

After reviewing the case, the Norwegian Consumer Complaints Board has upheld the car owner's complaint and concluded that Tesla is responsible for ensuring that the car functions as expected during normal use, including when the phone is connected.

The board determined that the car owner has the right to cancel the purchase, which means that he can get the full amount for the car back with interest. The decision may have consequences for other car owners who experience similar problems with telephone connections in their cars.

The Consumer Complaints Board also criticized Tesla for not being able to document that the problem was caused by Apple, as Tesla has otherwise claimed. Tesla offered the owner compensation in the form of a free brake service as well as an interior and exterior wash of the car, but the owner rejected the offer as it did not solve the actual problem.

Tesla and Apple products are not the latest drivers to have issues with. BMW owners have reported that their cars kill their phones. Read more about it here .
