Tesla has initially said that the brand will sell twice as many cars as Toyota. But in a new report from the Americans, an important wording is missing.
Tesla no longer believes that the brand can deliver 20 million cars annually from 2030. This is evident from Tesla's own so-called 'impact report', which is an assessment of the brand's impact on the environment in connection with general car production.

The news agency also calls the new report a sign of a new direction at Tesla. Namely that you move away from passenger cars and towards robot taxis.
It was Elon Musk who initially promised that Tesla would build 20 million cars per year by 2030 at the latest. Later, Tesla repeated that goal in impact report calculations for both 2021 and 2020.

By comparison, Toyota, measured in number of cars the world's largest car company, builds just over 11 million cars a year. Tesla would therefore almost double that number. Right up until the target is no longer part of the official line.
Tesla can already note a decline. In the first quarter of 2024, the American electric car brand has not been able to match the record number of delivered cars that were sent out in the fourth quarter of 2023. And for the time being, there is no indication that the second quarter will be any better.
However, it is not only the Americans who are affected. All in all, the car industry has found a reverse gear with a lot of speed. Perhaps ironically especially when it comes to electric cars.
