Mercedes has already said that it will cut away the distinctive naming of the model range for electric cars. The new G-Class is one of the first examples.
There will be an electric G-Class from Mercedes.
But exactly opposite to the naming of the brand's other electric cars, the electric version of the G-Class will not be named EQG. Still, the Germans cannot say goodbye to the EQ designation completely.
That's what Auto Bild writes.
The German media writes that Mercedes, which will unveil the production-ready version in April, will call the first car the G 580 with EQ technology. It is happening in connection with the Chinese car exhibition Auto China in Beijing.

Mercedes has not said anything about what specifications are hidden under the long name, but insiders that Auto Bild refers to expect to see at least four electric motors in the car.
The battery in the new G-Class will have a capacity of around 100 kWh and a range of around 320 kilometres. Later, a version of the G-Class will come with an even more powerful battery.
However, this does not mean that the Germans have dropped the G-Class with a combustion engine. At home, however, the facelifted version, which has just been sent to the streets, costs an awful lot of money. We are talking on the scary side of 2.4 million kroner.
