The new monster of a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is ready to battle the Ferrari SF90 with 1,079 horsepower from the factory.
It has a top speed of at least 346 km/h, and then the new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 roars around with 1,079 horsepower from the factory.
The Corvette's chief engineer compares the traction to a freight train, partly because he and the other employees on the project have sacrificed new pistons and connecting rods for the turnover.
All power comes from a 5.5-liter V8 engine with twin turbos. In comparison, the Ferrari SF90 makes do with a 4-liter V8 with turbo and hybrid package.
The Americans do without the latter. But that doesn't change the fact that the new ZR1 is the most powerful engine ever mass-produced in the United States.

Exactly how fast the LT7 engine, which is a further development of the LT6, is no one knows yet. But unlike many of its European competitors, Chevrolet has removed all so-called electronic speed limiters in the new Corvette.
And then it's easy, the new American. At least relatively. Chevy uses i.a. carbon fiber to keep the weight 'down' at 1,665 kilos. Enough for the car to cover a quarter mile in just 9.7 seconds.
In terms of design, there is not much that makes the new ZR1 stand out from the rest of the Corvette program at first glance. But give it another look. There is both a gigantic rear wing in carbon fiber and equally large air intakes on the side. The same applies to significantly larger wheels.
The Americans do not have the price ready yet. But it is already established that Chevrolet will not impose any production restrictions on the car. As a result, as many cars are built as the factory can possibly sell.
