Two men, aged 34 and 58 respectively, quite literally thought they could hide their criminal vice among some pigs.
On Thursday, a 34-year-old man from the Kolding area and a 58-year-old Dane with residence in Malaga were sentenced for smuggling hashish from Spain to Denmark.
The hash was mixed and stored aboard a pig transport. At the Court in Roskilde, the men have been sentenced to seven and five and a half years in prison respectively. Both men pleaded not guilty.
This is stated by the National Unit for Special Crime (NSK) in a press release .
The 34-year-old man is probably not a Danish citizen, because he was expelled from Denmark. And he must not appear here for the next six years. Among other things, because he has helped smuggle over one ton of hashish to Denmark.
In the case of the 58-year-old, it was admitted that he had received up to 2 tonnes of hash from Malaga to Denmark several times between July and November 2020.
The driver, who shortened the pig transport from Spain to Denmark, was previously sentenced to four years in prison. The police are satisfied with the verdict.
– I am satisfied with the verdicts, which are based on good international police cooperation. The verdict emphasizes once again that the smuggling of hashish in large quantities is punished quite severely.
And that serious drug crime is considered to be so harmful to society that regardless of a strong connection to Denmark, it can lead to deportation, says special prosecutor at NSK Mathias Vestergaard.
