Mobile manufacturer wants to beat Porsche with 1,600 hp in new electric car

Criticism has rightly rained down on Xiaomi's first attempt at an electric car called the SU7. Still, the Chinese now believe they are ready to challenge Porsche.

Porsche is the next target for the part of mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi that deals with car production.

The new Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is the top version of the Chinese's first model, the SU7. The car gets three electric motors and a total output of 1,548 horsepower. That from electric motors that Xiaomi calls V6 and V8.

According to Car News China, the upcoming Chinese car has a top speed of over 350 km/h. By comparison, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, which has 1,034 horsepower, is electronically limited to a top speed of 305 km/h.

That the Chinese think so is evidenced by their presence at the Nürburgring. Here the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has already been seen. However, in a camouflage packaging.

Behind the foil is supposed to hide a car which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds. It goes from 0 to 200 km/h in 5.97 seconds and reaches 300 km/h after 15 seconds.

This is because Xiaomi keeps the weight down by using a lot of carbon fiber in the rebuilding of the body. Still, the SU7 Ultra is no easy feat. Even the Chinese cannot push the weight below 1,900 kilos.

Still, the braking distance from 100-0 km/h is less than 25 meters. If there is any support in what Xiaomi believes the car can do, we will only get an answer when the car goes out to customers. When that will happen is not known.
