Mercedes owner's stupidity turns million-dollar car into submarine

At home, a Mercedes-AMG GT-R cost from 3.2 million when it was available. Now a Dutchman may be facing a similar bill.

Water and cars are a really bad combination. And then it is actually subordinate whether the car runs on petrol, diesel or electricity.

Water is a huge no-go. Still, a Dutch Mercedes-AMG GT-R owner recently managed to turn his million-dollar car into a submarine.

In the town of Beek en Donk, the owner simply dipped the car into some water from a surrounding canal system. Like the canal system, the road that the Mercedes was on map before does not make a single turn.

Nevertheless, the car ended up where it did. Local media write that the Mercedes was allegedly in the middle of an overhaul when the owner lost control and continued straight out… into the water.

There were two people in the car who quickly got out. Luckily no scratches. Other than the pride, of course.

However, both driver and passenger must be happy that they got out of the car. Judging from pictures and videos from the scene, the car was almost completely surrounded by water as it was raised to the surface again.

A gigantic workshop bill is probably still waiting. And even if it does, it is far from certain that the car is worth saving.

Now you would think that owners of supercars have more than usual control over what they are doing behind the wheel. But there are eerily numerous examples of the opposite.

Who doesn't remember the now legendary clip where a Bugatti Veyron disappears into some water. The extremely expensive car also went straight out when the steering wheel was suddenly turned.
