Mercedes in particular is looking for a new owner – was the world's first

The first passenger car with carbon fiber brakes was the Mercedes CL 55 AMG. Only 55 so-called "F1 Editions" have been built. Now number 35 will be auctioned.

It was only built for 12 months. Namely between 2000 and 2001. On the other hand, the Mercedes CL 55 AMG was the world's first passenger car with carbon fiber brakes.

The severely limited production meant that only 55 cars were sent on the roads with the then completely new technology. Now number 35 will be auctioned.

It will happen at RM Sotheby's as part of an auction in Dubai at the beginning of December. The price is unknown for the same reason. But what do you really get for the money?

Because without a car that only exists in 54 other copies, the future owner can be happy that the brake discs are 60 percent lighter than the corresponding steel discs. And that the car has almost nothing short of anything over the past decades.

In fact, it has become just 58,534 kilometers from new. Under the hood is a V8 engine of 5.4 liters and produces 360 horsepower with a torque of 510 Nm. The heavier compressor model was only on the program from the end of 2002.

It also means that the CL 55 AMG F1 Edition is not exactly a rocket. The car, which weighs almost 1,900 kilos, needs six seconds to reach from 0 to 100 km/h. Therefore, it probably won't become the world's most expensive auction object on four wheels either.

When the car was new, it cost 330,000 D-Mark. Barely 25 years and 58,000 kilometers later, it corresponds to somewhere between 38,000 and 58,000 euros or 283,000 to 432,000 Danish kroner. The bad news? All four brake discs must be replaced now.

Recently, Boosted has actually found quite a few special Mercedes models. Does the world's last 300 SL tempt 'Måvevinge'? Or how about the only SLS AMG Black Series in a very special color. Find both stories right here .
