Media: Toyota will kill the Supra in 2026

A Toyota spokesman would not confirm the news, but said the brand was 'evaluating' the future. In 2026, the Supra will be a 7-year-old car.

7 years, and then it's over.

This is apparently how both BMW and Toyota think in relation to the Z4 and Supra models, which share both platform and general engineering.

This is written by the GermanAutomobilwoche .

The news came out in connection with something completely different. Namely the future of the crisis-stricken Magna Steyr. However, because both the BMW and the Toyota are built at Magna Steyr's factory in Austria, their fate has nevertheless escaped as part of the package.

The car factory in Austria recently told 500 of its employees that they no longer have a job. This is due to the prospect of fewer and fewer orders. Partly because Fisker, which builds the Ocean model in Austria, has put an end to its entire production.

Magna Steyr itself does not expect to see anything for more new Fisker Ocean or Henrik Fisker. But it is not the only car that the factory will soon no longer produce. Both BMW's 5-Series, Jaguar E- and I-Pace are on their way out.

Toyota will not confirm anything. But at the North American importer, deputy director Dave Christ says that they 'have nothing to say at this time, but that they are considering the situation'.

The Supra is not the only car that is on its way out. New EU rules mean that it will be impossible for most car brands to keep many of their current models current.Read more about it here .
