Man arrested for particularly serious car thefts in Denmark

The East Jutland Police have succeeded in finding two Lithuanian men, who the law enforcement authorities believe are behind a series of gross thefts from cars on the edge of Aarhus.

Over the course of a week in February, several hundred side mirrors were stolen, primarily in the Aarhus area. But now the Eastern Jutland Police believe they have found the thieves.

It concerns two men from Lithuania, aged 33 and 27 respectively. They stole, the police believe, together with a third man the many side mirrors.

The East Jutland Police state this in a press release .

The order's investigation pointed them in the direction that the men had fled to Sweden. Here we managed to find two of them. Swedish police had already caught them here.

The 33-year-old cannot be extradited because he has to serve a prison sentence in Sweden. But the other, aged 27, was extradited to Denmark, where he was handcuffed at Kastrup Airport on Friday.

The 27-year-old is currently charged with 16 thefts of side mirrors in February. All thefts from cars in the Aarhus area.

– We have initially selected 16 thefts where we believe that the grounds for suspicion are so strong against the two men that they can be remanded in custody.

– Due to the organized way in which the thefts took place, they are charged with theft of a particularly serious nature, says prosecutor Casper Petersen from the prosecution at East Jutland Police.

The East Jutland Police expect the 33-year-old thief to be extradited from Sweden when he has finished serving time in the country.
