Lexie is the first to have maps around the world in an electric car

The American YouTuber Lexie Alford is the first to ever drive an electric car around the Earth.

The new electric Ford Explorer, which is really just a Volkswagen ID.4, is the first electric car to officially have maps around the world.

She finished in the French city of Nice on March 26, 2023, where she started on September 8 of the previous year, in a prototype Ford Explorer.

Lexie Alford is already the youngest person to ever visit every country in the world. Over the course of the journey, the car had to be charged a total of 105 times with a variety of solutions that included everything from a slow 2.2kW AC charge to DC lightning chargers.

This is what the Danish Ford importer writes in a press release .

– There is no doubt that there have also been numerous challenges when you choose to travel around in an electric car.

– I had a goal to push to the limits of what has so far been possible in an electric car, and I am proud that I have succeeded, says Lexie Alford.

With the trip around the Earth, Ford has recreated the story of Aloha Wanderwell, who 100 years ago circumnavigated the world in a Ford Model T. She did so as the first woman in the world.

Wanderwell was only 16 years old when she made the trip. Along the way, she had to, among other things, replace petrol with kerosene and fuel the engine in the Model T with mashed bananas.

The journey in the 100-year-younger electric car was just under 30,000 kilometers long. It is not clear from the press material whether Ford has paid the YouTuber to take the trip around the world.
