Lars' license plate illegal – can only be approved in Norway

Lars Einar Ulrichsen believes that it is an expression of discrimination when Sweden does not want to approve the number plate that Norway sees no problem with.

Lars Einar Ulrichsen cannot get the license plate 'F1 Race' approved.

Well, he can. But only in Norway. The authorities in Sweden will not accept this kind of thing. Not even if even the same authority has previously approved the number plates "Race" and "Formula 1".

However, Lars' number plate goes over the line for one reason or another. More on that in a bit. Similar to the rules here at home, the authorities in Sweden can choose to reject a so-called license plate if the signs on it appear to be correct.

In Sweden alone, 3,000 motorists apply for that type of number plate every year. A good 100 of them get a refusal in return. In the case of Lars Einar Ulrichsen, the authorities do not like that he refers to something with speed.

– You have applied to use a personal choir plate with the character combination F1 RACE. The character combination you requested can be taken as standing.

– The Transport Agency therefore rejects your request. One of our criteria for rejection is names or allusions to speed, writes the Swedish Transport Agency to Lars.

In an interview with Carup , Lars Einar Ulrichsen believes that this is discrimination. Because he has had exactly the same combination of characters approved on his company car's license plate in Norway without any problems.

Here at home, the authorities are also quite strict about what is good practice on the roads and what they will not allow at all. Read more about the number plates that have been rejected in Denmark here .
