F1 star Lando Norris and Monster Energy pay tribute to Japanese car culture in a new video filled with iconic cars from Liberty Walk.
Lando Norris has swapped the Formula 1 track for the rain-soaked streets of Tokyo. Together with Monster Energy and Quadrant, he drives through the city in a custom-built Nissan Skyline R32 from Liberty Walk.
The video shows Lando behind the wheel of an LB-Kaido Works Skyline, cruising through the city's illuminated streets and continuing all the way to the docklands of Yokohama.
The purpose is to show its respect for Japanese car culture, which has been known for decades for its unique cars and passionate fans, Monster Energy writes in a press release.
The project is part of the Kaido Race Party campaign, which is a collaboration between Lando Norris, Monster Energy and Liberty Walk – the Japanese tuning company behind the wide body and special design of the car.
From Formula 1 to the streets of Tokyo
Lando Norris has never hidden the fact that he is more than just a racing fan. He is also a car enthusiast. And you can clearly see that in the video, where he drives through the city with the biggest smile and shows his fascination for both the cars and the atmosphere around.
The car is a classic Nissan Skyline R32 – but far from standard. It has been converted by Liberty Walk with their LB-Kaido kit.
The video is also part of a larger campaign where Monster Energy is launching a new sugar-free energy drink – with Lando as the frontman.
"I've always wanted to try something different behind the wheel, and this was a wild experience. Tokyo and the cars here have a life of their own," says Lando Norris in connection with the video's launch.
A nod to Japan's automotive environment
Although the video is filmed and produced in high quality, it is not just made to show speed and excitement. It is also a signal of respect for the culture that has long existed on the streets of Japan.
Both street racing and tuning are important parts of the Japanese automotive world. And with his participation in the Kaido Race Party, Lando is joining a tradition where people fashion, display their cars and share the joy of driving – often without any competition.
“It's about meeting other car enthusiasts and feeling the atmosphere. I'm happy to experience it and be a part of it – just for a day,” says Lando Norris.
