Koenigsegg in record – has never been worth several billions

The car brand Koenigsegg has entered into a new agreement, which means that the Swedish company is worth a record billion kroner today.

Koenigsegg has never been worth more than it is right now. The brand's market value has skyrocketed after the investment fund Chieftain Capital came in with a big bag of money.

The car brand's founder, Christian von Koenigsegg, who also gives his name to everything at the factory in Ängelholm, retains most of the control of the company.

But according to Affärsvärlden , the deal means that Koenigsegg is now worth a good 9.2 billion Swedish kroner. This corresponds to 6 billion Danish kroner.

That's still on the low end, especially when compared to competitors like Ferrari and Lamborghini. Ferrari alone is worth a whopping $82.5 billion at the start of October 2024. This corresponds to 562 billion Danish kroner.

Back in Sweden, Christian von Koenigsegg hardly plans to withdraw some of the many US dollars from the company for private consumption. Instead, the money must be used for further development of current and future cars.

– We have expanding plans in several stages, which we try to foresee in the coming years. We got in touch with Chieftain, who became interested in coming along for the ride, and so one forte led to another, says von Koenigsegg to Affärsvärlden.

That being said, cars aren't the only thing the Koenigsegg family makes money from. The fortune, which has around DKK 328 million in Danish currency, is built on investments in several companies, including the lighting company Plejd.
