Especially on social media, other motorists' carousels are posted. But it can be illegal when the number plate is visible, says the law professor.
On social media, there are several groups that hang bad behavior/carousel out in full public view. In the pictures or in the recordings, the number plates are often not obscured.
But hanging other drivers out like that – i.a. with dashcam footage – may be illegal. This is what Sten Schaumburg-Müller, who is a professor at the Department of Law at the University of Southern Denmark, tells Ekstra Bladet .
The law professor maintains that number plates on cars in Denmark are 'personally attributable' information, because – if there is debt in the car – you will be able to look up both the name and parts of the CPR number of the registered owner.
Number plates therefore fall under the Personal Data Act. And here it can be difficult to find an argument for publishing the information that may be available in a simple posting in the Motor Register.
– The Personal Data Act operates with three different types of information. When it comes to criminal matters, it is semi-sensitive information.

– And there I would think that it is even more difficult to find the basis in the legislation for why the videos should be published. What interest is there in showing the exact license plate, says Sten Schaumburg-Müller.
Here at home – unless you are the police and have access to the registration card register – it is more than difficult to see who owns the car. That is, if there is no debt in the choir.
However, the rules in Sweden are markedly different. The authorities release information such as the name, age and address of all owners of passenger cars in the country. The rules on publishing the information are the same, even if a car has had several owners.
If you can search for a valid Swedish number plate, you can for the same reason see information on all owners since the first registration. So in Sweden. In the case of imports, the authorities do not publish the names, ages and addresses of previous foreign owners
