In 2035, traffic in Copenhagen will be a waste of 21 million hours

It is estimated that 800,000 more daily car trips in the metropolitan area in 2035 will mean that 21.1 million hours will be wasted on the roads.

Although certain politicians are fighting to make life as a driver as difficult as possible, traffic is here to stay.

And now a new projection of traffic in the capital area shows that motorists, people on bicycles and on trains in 2035 will waste 21.1 million hours in traffic.

Cow that will arise as a result of increased crowding. The Capital Region writes this in a press release .

The 21.1 million hours are 1.1 million hours more than are already wasted in traffic around and in the capital.

– If we don't do that, we will end up with congestion, environmental and noise pollution and lots of wasted hours in traffic. It simply doesn't work, says the chairman of the regional council in the Capital Region, Lars Gaardhoj (S).

Conversely, the analysis also indicates that CO2 emissions will fall by 10 percent towards 2035. It's just not really something that KKR Hovedstaden, which commissioned the analysis, is impressed with.

– Both parts point to a further need for conversion of heavy transport as well as relocation of goods transport and passenger transport, says Karsten Längerich, deputy chairman of KKR Hovedstaden.

The mobility analysis also indicates that by far the majority of the journeys that in 2035 will create greater congestion on the roads in the capital area are 'leisure journeys'. While commuters will only account for 26 percent of journeys.
