In 15 years, 14 car brands have disappeared from the country

In 15 years, there have been as many as 14 fewer car brands to be found on Bornholm. It is mainly the importers' requirements for the interior that are to blame.

It can cost millions of kroner to be a car dealer. Especially if you have to deal with new cars and a direct link to the importer.

On Bornholm, a trend that means ever greater demands on the car dealers of factory new cars has gone particularly hard on the selection.

This is what TV2 Bornholm tells us.

In just 15 years, as many as 14 car brands have disappeared from the cliff. Among the car brands that have recently disappeared are Volkswagen and a number of Stellantis brands. Including Citroën, Peugeot and Opel.

The latter was thrown out at once, as the dealer Bilhuset Elmer would not agree to the car group's demands. It happened in January this year. A case that Boosted has also mentioned. Read more about it here .

In fact, there are only 4 car brands that continue to be sold authorized on Bornholm. These are Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Kia and Suzuki. The rest have succumbed. According to the dealers, because the importers come with unwavering demands. Among other things, for the interior design of the car shops.

That the importers have high demands on the car dealers is not only seen on Bornholm, however. In several places in the country, the car brands and their dealers have gone their separate ways. However, it also happens that the car brand itself takes the consequences.

Troubled Fisker Inc., which is expected to go bankrupt these days, closed its only business in Denmark this week. Read more about it here .
