Hyundai owner gets compensation after gross complaint about electric car

You don't necessarily get what you buy. At least not in a Hyundai Ioniq 5. Therefore, a Norwegian woman must now have compensation.

A Norwegian woman needs NOK 50,000 back from the car dealer where she bought a Hyundai Ioniq 5 three and a half years ago.

The car turned out to weigh far too much in relation to the payload the woman had been promised. The dealer said 520 kilos, but the registration certificate just said 445 kilos.

The woman also had the difference confirmed after a trip to a Norwegian viewing hall. Despite the documentation, however, the dealer would not refund all or part of the car's price.

But the dealer had better ideas. NAF, which is the Norwegian answer to FDM, points out that there can't even be 5 people in the car if they each weigh 75 kilos. At least not if the payload has to stay within the car's approval.

Because even if the car's passengers have no luggage with them, there will still be an excess weight of 15 kilos. Therefore, the Hyundai owner, who lives in Oslo, decided last summer to complain to the Norwegian Consumer Complaints Board.

And here they have now given her the right and awarded her a compensation of NOK 50,000 for the dealer's log. A compensation that the dealer must give in the form of a reduction in the car's original price.

In front of Motor.no, the dealer in Oslo, Birger N. Haug, states that they do not intend to appeal the verdict. And that the 'decision' is taken into account.
