It's just that not all drivers have understood or received that message.
And now the police in North Carolina have had enough of the illegal traffic. The law has been phased in slowly, but now a period of warnings and pointing fingers is coming to an end.

In the month of June, there will be stalls if the police in the state see cars driving around like that. However, the penalty is on the 'low' end. The first time it costs 100 dollars, then 200 and 300 dollars the third time.
In the fourth case, the choir card is valid for 6 months. However, it is not only in North Carolina that motorists drive around on the wrong side of the traffic law without thinking about it.
It also happens on the other side of the Atlantic. So here at home. Back in September last year, a then 29-year-old woman had to hand in her choir card to the police for an 'everyday offence'.
In the transcript it was stated that the woman was doing 112 km/h on the Fynske Motorvej near Langeskov when she was stopped by the police. However, a subsequent measurement showed that she was keeping far too little distance from the traffic in front.
The woman was completely down at a distance to the anchor between 11.2 and 13.7 metres. The law says a minimum of 24 metres. And so row the choir card. Read more about it here .
