It has been delayed several times. But now the Danish Road Traffic Authority's new app for inspectors and companies is here. Photos must now be taken of all cars that are driven for inspection.
There's no avoiding it. From January 1, 2025, all inspectors in Denmark will have to take photos of all cars that are produced for all types of inspections.
This is stated by the Danish Transport Authority in a press release .
The rule comes into effect after a majority at Christiansborg watched the version of DR's consumer program that uncovered the phenomenon of SMS inspection. Here, drivers order an inspection from an inspector who is willing to approve the car without ever having seen it. Read more about it here.
Typically, the view costs a couple of thousand kroner or three. And that is the phenomenon that a majority at Christiansborg would like to eliminate.

That's why the rules for inspections in Denmark were tightened in December last year. They were supposed to have been introduced in April this year. But the Danish Road Safety Authority received criticism in consultation responses from inspectors around the country for not having the technology behind it – a newly developed app called eSyn+ – ready for use.
That's why the Danish Road Safety Authority announced in February that it was postponing the new requirements until the end of 2024. But that was no guarantee, and it's not going to happen. Now instead, we're going straight to the other side of the New Year, because the new rules apply.
