Half leave the car because fuel is too expensive

Half of the drivers now leave their cars parked more often because fuel has become too expensive. It shows a new, Dutch circular track.

Half of drivers leave their car parked more often than before. High fuel prices are a major reason for this change.

A survey by Dutch Autotrack shows that the rising cost of filling up the tank is causing people to consider alternative modes of transport or to avoid unnecessary trips altogether.

The survey also shows an age-related difference in relation to how often drivers leave their cars parked. Younger drivers are more likely to change their driving habits in response to high fuel prices.

This may be related to the fact that older generations generally have a more solid economy and are thus less affected by price increases.

Autotrack has also observed a change in demand in the used car market. Sales of petrol cars have fallen by 3.5 per cent. While sales of hybrid cars have increased by 41 percent.

However, this increase in the popularity of hybrid cars must be seen in the light of the fact that more hybrid cars have generally appeared on the used car market. Most new cars are sold today with hybrid technology, and this is now also reflected in the used car market.

However, the price of used hybrid cars is still relatively high. A used hybrid car costs on average over 40,000 euros, equivalent to 300,000 kroner. While a used petrol or diesel car without hybrid technology typically costs between 20,000 and 25,000 eurosl. Corresponding to DKK 187,000 when it is most expensive.

Although there is a growing interest in hybrid cars, it is unclear whether this trend will continue if fuel prices fall. It is also worth noting that diesel cars, despite the high taxes and environmental zones in the cities, are still popular among some motorists.
