Giant car brand may still want to buy all of Renault

Stellanti's absolute top boss, Carlos Tavares, expects that some car brands will disappear and that some will 'further consolidate'.

Earlier this month, Stellantis' chairman of the board John Elkann denied that the world's fourth largest car group was/is interested in Renault.

But the story, which first appeared in the Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, will not lie down anyway.

Because the denials, which come from both the director and the chairman of the board, can be game for the gallery.

On the other hand, the French government, which owns 15.01 percent of the entire Renault group (Alpine, Dacia, Renault and Renault Korea Motors, ed.), has said as recently as February 6 this year that it is backing up on Renault's current strategy.

A strategy that means Renault remains independent, even though the brand is technically part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.

Back in January, however, it also appeared from the Stellantis director that they were 'ready to avoid a race to the bottom'.

A bottom that will possibly mean that several car brands that exist today will have succumbed in just a handful of years. Read more about it here .
