Get the car ready for winter with a service and inspection

When winter approaches, it is important to ensure that the car is in top shape so that you can drive safely through snow, ice and cold. A thorough service and inspection at a car workshop can ensure that your car is ready to face the challenges of winter. Here are three areas where service and inspection can make a big difference.

1. Check tires and brakes

Tires and brakes are decisive for safety on winter roads. During a winter inspection, the mechanic will ensure that your tires have sufficient tread depth, which provides better grip on slippery surfaces. If your tires are worn or not suitable for winter driving, the mechanic can recommend new winter tires. At the same time, the brakes will be checked for wear, so you are sure that they work optimally when you need to brake quickly in snow or on ice.

2. Check battery and fluids

Cold can have a negative effect on the car's battery and fluids, which is why it is important to have them checked before winter sets in. During an inspection, the mechanic will check whether the car's battery has enough voltage and whether it is time to replace it. In addition, fluids such as coolant, brake fluid and washer fluid will be checked and topped up as necessary. Make sure that the washer fluid is frost-free so that it does not freeze when the temperature drops.

3. Winter-ready engine and undercarriage

The winter roads can be hard on the car's engine and undercarriage, so it is important to have them checked. A workshop can check whether the engine oil is in good condition and recommend a winter-friendly oil if necessary. The undercarriage will also be inspected for rust or damage that may be exacerbated by road salt and moisture. The mechanic can rust-protect the undercarriage so that it is better protected against the winter weather.

By having your car serviced and inspected before winter, you ensure that it is ready for all the challenges that may come. This not only gives you peace of mind, but also better safety on the roads.
