Gas station to be demolished 'for safety reasons'

The Swedes are busy closing several gas stations. Many believe that the last new gas station has opened. Now one is being torn down 'for safety'.

According to housing and property councillor Clara Lindblom (V), demolishing a gas station will make the Swedish town of Tensta a safer place.

"This is an incredibly desolate, dark and unsafe place," she says, according to Mitt i .

In addition to the gas station being demolished, a supermarket nearby will also disappear. It will also be demolished. In return, space will be made for 400 new apartments.

However, Clara Lindblom does not believe that the opportunity to refuel the car will be worse now that politicians want to demolish the city's gas station.

– I think it will get worse, people will have a little longer distance (to a gas station, ed.) when the area becomes so much safer and better.

The company behind the gas station, which is now disappearing, said shortly before the announcement of the demolition that they are now investing even more in the establishment of fast chargers. Specifically, they want to 'double' the number of fast chargers in Sweden by 2025.

While some Swedes are convinced that the last new gas station has already opened in Sweden, more brand new gas stations are popping up here at home. Boosted reported this back in March.

The low-cost chain Go On is set to expand its network of stations. The director believes that 'the rumor about the death of the petrol car is greatly exaggerated'. Read more about it here .
