The appraisal association predicts that insurance companies will tighten their grip on their customers when new regulations on 'suitable tires' come into effect.
The government refuses to call it a ban on anything other than winter tires. But Taksatorringen is still nervous that insurance companies will take advantage of a future law.
As it stands right now, from July 1st it will be prohibited to drive with anything other than 'suitable tires' in winter weather. However, Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen (V) will not describe what 'suitable tires' are.
The Danish Insurance Institute, which calculates damages to cars on behalf of insurance companies, would like that. This means a ban on everything other than winter tires. Or at least tires with a so-called 'snowflake marking'.
– A stricter legal text regarding this matter will probably also have the consequence that insurance companies will be able to reject any damage to a greater extent than today, where a customer has cards with unsuitable tires in snow, sleet, ice and slush, writes Taksatoringen in a post on LinkedIn .
Specifically, it is imagined that insurance companies will refuse to pay compensation because, with the new legislation, the companies will be able to say that drivers with anything other than winter tires are driving grossly negligently in traffic.
Even before we get that far, the government will raise motorists' bills in just a few days. From January 1, the tax on fuel will be significantly increased. Read more about it here .
At the same time, the semi-annual periodic tax will increase. This applies to both the old weight tax scheme and the current 'green tax'. An increase that will not stop in 2026. In return, the so-called equalization tax will disappear. But this is only temporary. It is expected to return in 2027.
However, electric cars are not exempt from the increase either. Although the increases are modest, the government is also lowering the limit for the amount that does not have to be paid registration tax. At the same time, Tax Minister Rasmus Stoklund (S) has said that new legislation is needed.
A new law that makes electric cars cheaper. In this way, Danes will be pushed out of their gasoline and diesel cars.
At the same time, all 98 municipalities in the country will have the option to ban all cars with combustion engines from January 1. So far, this has only been possible for Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg and Frederiksberg.
