Formula 1 choirs only fear Kevin Magnussen

Kevin Magnussen is the only one on the track that Williams' Alex Albon fears seeing in his side mirrors out on the Formula 1 tracks.

Alex Albon is afraid of Danish Kevin Magnussen in Formula 1.

Although Max Verstappen is often mentioned as an aggressive corrier, it is not him that Albon fears the most. Instead, it is Kevin Magnussen who gives Albon sweat on his forehead.

Albon and Verstappen were teammates at Red Bull in 2019 and 2020. But it is Magnussen who causes Albon the most concern when the Dane appears in the side mirrors of the Williams racer.

However, in an interview on Motorsport.com's TikTok channel , Albon says that Verstappen, who is a three-time world champion, is the most aggressive driver when it comes to overtaking.

Verstappen's corselle has often been discussed. Most recently after the Dutchman's cross in Mexico which gave him two time penalties of 10 seconds each.

But when it comes to actual attack, it is Magnussen that Albon would prefer to avoid.

– We often mother each other on the pitch, and it's always hard, says Albon.

In many ways, Kevin Magnussen has also had a wild 2024 season. He is the first Formula 1 driver ever to receive so many penalty points under the new regulations that it cost him an exclusion.

It happened in connection with the Italian grand prix, where K-Mag received both its 11th and 12th penalty points for colliding with Alpine's Pierre Gasly.

This meant that the Dane had to sit out the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on the city circuit in Baku.

Later, K-Mag was struck by illness. He therefore also had to leave the place in the Haas racer to his replacement Oliver Bearmann during the São Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil.

However, Albon's experience with Magnussen is not unique. This season, several players have had problems with the Dane, who is not afraid of close contact.

Conversely, the international motorsport organization FIA has been heavily criticized for the penalty system. Several racing choirs both in and outside of Formula 1 call it downright unfair.
