Ford's "illegal" V8 engine has 1,000 horsepower

It's on the program at Ford. But you have to assemble the 7.3-liter V8 yourself. And if you want to drive it on the street, you'll have to make do with 800 horsepower.

Ford's new 7.3-liter V8 engine has 1,000 horsepower, and it's actually so brutal that you can't legally drive it on public roads.

Megazilla, which is actually Megazilla 2.0, is not in any car. Instead, you get the parts delivered, and then you have to start assembling it yourself.

The first Megazilla was a disgrace by comparison, making just over 600 horsepower when it was released in 2022.

But if you throw a huge supercharger on the whole thing and otherwise pump the engine in all the right places, Ford believes the new thing is good for at least 1,000 horsepower.

None – the engine may not be used on public roads. Just as there is no word on the price. At least not yet. But the first Megazilla self-assembly kit cost 23,000 dollars, equivalent to 165,000 kroner.

If it can do less, it may actually become legal for use on public roads. The new Mustang Dark Horse is powered by a 5-liter V8 engine. It has 453 horsepower and 540 Nm.

But with a supercharger, slightly different engine management and 'more', as Ford says, there are 810 horsepower available.

The kit comes from Ford's Performance department. And compared to what the car costs with tax in Denmark (1.1 million kroner, ed.), the kit is a real bargain. It comes to 'just' 10,000 dollars or 72,000 Danish kroner.
