A new trademark filing reveals that Ford will revive the iconic RS200 name. So maybe.
Ford has submitted a not entirely insignificant application to the European trademark office, which is located in the Spanish city of Alicante.
Quite recently, the brand has once again sought to have the model name RS200 protected. What Ford intends to use the name for – or whether it will happen at all – is not known.
That's what Motor1 writes.
But if you know your car history, it smells a bit of rally history and the total of 141 street cars of the rally monster RS200 that Ford built to participate in the legendary Group B series.

Actually, the brand should have built 200. But according to the British website RS200.org, Ford stopped production when the English motorsport department had built 141 cars. How the car brand was allowed to do so is unknown.
But that didn't just make the center-engined street car extremely rare back then. The admittedly fewer cars that still exist today are hideously expensive. Almost impossible to get close to.
Back in 2021, one of just 24 so-called Evolution examples was sold on the American auction site Bring A Trailer. And at a price that makes most people hold on to the edge of the table.
After 57 bids, the auction ended at 19.18 local time on Friday 19 March 2021. At that time, the lucky winner had committed to pay 502,500 dollars, corresponding to 3.4 million – almost 3.5 million – Danish kroner for the car.
