First in Denmark – now they are also dropping all hydrogen stations

Last year, the remaining hydrogen stations in Denmark closed down. And now Shell in California is following suit. There is simply no money in it.

There is no money in running hydrogen stations. Neither in Denmark, where the last hydrogen stations closed in 2023, nor in California.

In any case, the international oil company Shell is now closing all of the company's seven hydrogen stations in the US state.

The company confirmed this in a press release last week.

Deputy director at Shell Hydrogen Andrew Beard, states several reasons for the closure. Among other things, supply problems and other market factors are to blame.

However, this does not change the fact that the stations closed with immediate effect in connection with the press release.

Shell's decision comes shortly after the last 18 hydrogen stations in Denmark closed. That decision was made last September.

This left Lars Madsen, among others, with a useless car. A car he had otherwise paid more than half a million for shortly before. Read more about it here .
