The city council of The Hague has adopted two proposals to ban fossil advertising on outdoor areas, city council spokesman Jordy Kruse told the AFP news agency on Friday last week.
The first proposal informs advertising agencies that fossil fuel advertising is not permitted, while the second bans all fossil fuel advertising in public spaces, says Kruse.
City council politician Leonie Gerritsen, who is elected for the so-called 'animal party', hopes that the new ban will send a clear signal.
– We hope that this law will also send a signal to other cities to do the same to combat climate change, she says.
However, The Hague does not go further than Ethiopia does. The whole country has decided to completely ban the import of all diesel and petrol cars. However, it has nothing to do with climate. Read more about it here .
