FDM man becomes expert in popular Danish TV programme

There are new faces in the "Luxusfelden". The programme, which exposes the participants' poor finances, now has an FDM man as an expert.

FDM's so-called consumer economist is now also an expert on TV. It happens when he takes part in the 33rd season of the popular TV programme, The Luxury Trap.

The programme, which exposes how badly some Danes really have a handle on the economy, is getting a new team of experts.

This is what TV3 writes in a press release.

– The first thing my wife said was, "Why are you putting yourself through that?". And I do that because I love jumping into new things, says the new Luxury Trap expert.

Despite his wife's misgivings, it was not difficult for Ilyas Dogru to say yes to TV3. Based on the consumer economist's post on LinkedIn about the new TV role, FDM supports him.

Kenneth Hansen, Mette Reissmann and Louise Frost retain their roles in the programme. But in addition to Ilyas Dogru, they are joined by Manja Hansen, who is an accountant from CBS and who works daily as finance manager at GodEnergi.

However, the first programme, which premiered on 10 September, does not exactly bring the FDM man's skills into play.

Here, the experts visit Daniel, who has an enormous consumption of fast food. So much, in fact, that he spends as much as DKK 55,000 a year on this kind of food.

The luxury trap has visited Danes with economic pain due to cars. For example, "Flipper-Michael", who participated in the program in 2022, had 12 cars in the same number of months.

However, it is not only private drivers who can have a debt so enormous that expert help is needed. Volkswagen, for example, is struggling with a debt of DKK 3,200 billion. The financial director estimates that there are two – perhaps three – years to rectify the situation.

Other companies in the automotive industry are collapsing due to billions in tax debt. This happened, for example, to the Swedish sub-supplier IAC Group back in July. The company's bankruptcy means that it has run out of credit. Read more about it here .
