Elon Musk wants to buy giant soccer club, says his father

Elon Musk wants to buy Liverpool Football Club, the Tesla CEO's father has revealed in a new interview.

In an interview with Times Radio, Tesla CEO Elon Musk's father, Errol Musk, revealed that his son has a desire to buy the Liverpool football club.

"Of course he wants to," said Errol Musk, referring to the family's connection to the city. "His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool."

Rumors about Elon Musk's interest in buying the traditional football club have been rife for some time, but his father's statements have breathed new life into the speculation.

Liverpool FC is currently owned by Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which took over the club in 2010. FSG has previously indicated an openness to attracting new investors to secure the club's financial future.

"We have always said that if there is an investment partner that is right for Liverpool, we will seek the opportunity to help secure the club's long-term financial resilience and future growth," said director Mike Gordon.

Liverpool is one of the world's most valuable football clubs, and a purchase would require a significant financial commitment.

According to Forbes, Liverpool is the fourth most valuable football club in the world with an estimated value of almost 39 billion Danish kroner.

Although Elon Musk is the world's richest person with a fortune of around 300 billion kroner, he would not become the richest club owner in the Premier League. That title belongs to the Saudi Arabian investment fund that owns Newcastle, with a fortune of 5 billion kroner.

Errol Musk added in the interview: "We were lucky enough to know a lot of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family."

Whether Elon Musk will actually try to buy the football club, and whether FSG is willing to sell, remains unknown. Neither Elon Musk nor Liverpool FC have commented on the father's statements.
