Electric cars want to go to Europe – here is the price in Denmark

Nio is dormant at home, but the group's low-cost brand Onvo might do better. The price in China gives an idea of the level in Denmark.

Nine in Denmark are dormant. But there may be better chances for the group's low-cost brand Onvo. And now we have an idea of the price in Denmark.

The Onvo L60, which looks like a competitor to the Tesla Model Y, costs, according to American CNBC, from 204,000 yuan in China. This corresponds to 194,000 Danish kroner.

And because there is no registration tax on electric cars under DKK 435,000 in Denmark, it is also a price we can roughly count on here at home. Nio's founder and director William Li already expects to be able to introduce Onvo to Europeans in 2025.

– Due to the customs in Europe now, it will be more expensive to sell and export cars from China to Europe. So we will focus on the existing five European markets that we have already started.

– We also know that it will take longer to establish Nio, which is a premium brand on the European market, and we are very patient with that, says the director.

The Onvo L60 is reportedly coming to Europe with three different battery pack sizes. According to the Chinese standardization of the range, there are respectively 550, 730 and 1,000 kilometers to come.

However, the range is determined according to the Chinese CLCT standard, which is known to give a significantly longer range than the otherwise very optimistic WLTP standard in Europe.

The Onvo L60 will have its biggest competitor in the Tesla Model Y, which is currently sold for the equivalent of DKK 235,000 in China. This means that the Chinese is basically 41,000 Danish kroner cheaper than the nearest competitor.
