In a surprising announcement in every way, Volkswagen now admits that electric cars are far too expensive when new.
The motorists may have had an idea about it. And the car brands have indicated it. Namely that electric cars are expensive.

But now Volkswagen says directly that new electric cars are far too expensive. This appears from an interview that the brand's finance director gave to an internal newsletter for Volkswagen employees.
This is written by News38 , which has obtained the interview with the financial director Arno Antlitz. In the same interview, Arno Antlitz READ also points to the reason.

Volkswagen simply charges too much for its electric cars. But that, the director emphasizes, is connected to the costs, which are currently far too high at Volkswagen's German factories.
– The costs and (the goal, ed.) of mobility for all are not connected. This applies especially at our German factories, which currently build the majority of the electric cars.
In order for Volkswagen to return to a starting point with a real 'people's car' – i.e. at least one car at an affordable price – it requires that production costs be further reduced.
In addition, production must increase. The question then is whether this sort of thing is even possible in a period when the demand for electric cars is generally falling.
With a competitor like Ford, you can note a loss of 1 million kroner. That is, as per electric car, which the brand spits off the assembly line. To avoid rounds of layoffs, Ford is therefore cutting production in the first instance. Read more about it here .
