CUPRA unveiled the new versions of the Formentor and Leon with a bang in Madrid. The global launch took place during a spectacular event called "Design Obsession" that demonstrated CUPRA's commitment to innovation and creativity. The presentation went far beyond traditional car shows and demonstrated CUPRA's dedication to a progressive and design-focused brand.
The newly updated Formentor and Leon are tailored for the next generation of the "CUPRA Tribe". Introduced at this world premiere, these new models presented a completely new design language.
One of the brand's best-selling cars, the Formentor achieved impressive results in 2023 with over 120,000 units sold, up 23% from the previous year. These solid sales underline CUPRA's success in creating cars that speak directly to a dedicated fan base. The new designs for both models have been developed to maintain this positive growth.
Wayne Griffiths, Managing Director of CUPRA, commented: "The CUPRA Formentor and Leon have played a pivotal role in our brand's progress as we expand globally. With almost 600,000 cars delivered since 2018, the brand has established itself as a key actor." He added that Leon and Formentor represent the passion at the core of CUPRA's DNA and are designed to create strong emotions in their customers.

In terms of design, both cars offer an eye-catching appearance with the CUPRA logo placed prominently on the bonnet and an aggressive front with a distinctive triangular matrix LED light. This triangle motif is also present at the rear, where the logo is illuminated along with the LED taillights that give cars their unique look.
Inside, the interior matches the bold exterior aesthetic with sports seats made from recycled materials and a center console that combines sustainability and sportiness. The digital cockpit behind the steering wheel and a large 12.9-inch infotainment system with an advanced sound system from Sennheiser provide a state-of-the-art driving experience.
The CUPRA Leon and Formentor come with different engine options, including TSI (petrol), mild hybrid (eTSI), TDI (diesel) and eHybrid (plug-in hybrid). The new generation plug-in hybrid delivers 272 horsepower and has an electric range of over 100 km, with the possibility of fast charging of up to 50kW DC.
In addition, the Formentor and Leon Sportstourer also offer a TSI petrol engine with 333 horsepower and high-performance Akebono brakes.
The "Design Obsession" event was more than just a product launch. It was an impressive visual experience, with large screens and a floating catwalk creating a unique atmosphere for the guests present and those following via live stream. CUPRA demonstrated that their passion for design and innovation is decisive for their success in the competitive automotive industry.
