Denmark is in the top 5 for speed booths in Europe

Denmark is not the most expensive European country to drive too hard in. But it is very close, a new settlement shows.

Speedboats in Denmark and the rest of Europe can be an expensive pleasure, even if not necessarily too loud.

A recent report from Discover Cars comparing fine sizes in 20 European countries shows that the individual countries make a big difference in how speeding offenders are punished.

The report shows that Norway has the strictest penalty for driving 14 km/h too fast in a 50 zone.

Here, as a driver, you have to cough up 3,600 Danish kroner. Which is more than twice as expensive as in Sweden, where the same offense costs "just" 1,600 Danish kroner.

Several northern European countries, together with Switzerland, have high fines for this type of speeding offence.

At the opposite end of the scale, you find Slovakia, Latvia and Greece, where a fine for speeding 14 km/h in a 50 zone is almost free. Or that means – that you as a driver get away with what is equivalent to 300 Danish kroner.

However, there are countries that stand out even more than that. In Austria, in extreme cases you can be fined up to DKK 57,000 for driving too fast.

It is worth noting that the fines in the survey are only an example of what you can expect to pay for a specific speeding offence.

The final fine can vary depending on various factors, such as how much you bark too hard and where you are caught. The settlement also does not take into account the Danish rules on madness.

Rules that Austria has also been inspired by. The law on speed bumps on Austrian asphalt was introduced earlier this year. But law enforcement in the country has already seized more than 200 cars.

Some of the cases have also ended with confiscation sentences. Blue. a 20-year-old man now owes his father a quarter of a million kroner because he was going one kilometer an hour too fast. Read more about that case here .
